“Teaching takes the ordinary, the common, and in the translation creates something extraordinary… Without surprise, there can be no wisdom.”

~ Pamela K. Metz, The Tao of Learning

Students follow a step by step curriculum designed to optimize learning and make the most of your interactions with the horses. These guided experiences progress at a speed you are comfortable with, and are responsive to your needs.

Experiences with the horses range from a simple greeting, grooming, leading, or simply relaxing with the herd, to more advanced horsemanship “games” that you will play with the horses from the ground. Once you have developed a trusting relationship with a particular horse over time, you may progress to riding if we decide it is appropriate.

All of these interactions allow relationship dynamics and patterns to surface naturally. Most learning opportunities can be explored directly with the horses, however if you identify something that you would like to explore in another way, we may head to the office for a more in-depth conversation or activity, or to learn a particular skill which we can then practice with the horses.

All interactions with the horses are designed to interrupt “business as usual” and slow down your interactions in order to help you notice and bring awareness to your strengths, challenges, and unconscious thought patterns and behaviors.

The horses respond authentically to your interactions with them, reflecting back to you the strengths, challenges, and behavior patterns that need your attention.

Ginger acts as a witness and translator to help you understand and make meaning of your experience and apply it directly to your life, and to your human relationships, so you can turn your learning into action.
